A mobile, cloud and field-hardware platform for monitoring conditions and managing irrigation across farms.

The challenge

Give agricultural teams visibility and control across distributed land, sensors and valves without making essential irrigation schedules dependent on continuous internet access.

The solution

SmartLand combines ESP32 hubs, LoRa sensing units and valve modules with mobile and administrative applications. It gathers soil and environmental measurements, supports remote valve commands and provides telemetry history and alerts. Schedules and sensor-triggered rules run locally on the hub, while the cloud supports device management, users, monitoring and coordination across farms.

My role

I led project and technical coordination across the mobile, backend and embedded work. My responsibilities included clarifying operational requirements, organizing the required team capabilities, guiding technology and architecture decisions, managing delivery priorities and following integration and testing. A central focus was aligning field-device behavior with the mobile experience and cloud workflows, including connectivity loss and device lifecycle management.

Value delivered

The platform brings field monitoring, irrigation control and device administration into one system. Local execution supports continuity during connectivity interruptions, while centralized information gives teams a clearer view of farm conditions and equipment status.
