Fugro Report Builder
From ground-investigation data to structured factual reports.
Automated report assembly, engineering tables and locally generated descriptive text, with geologists remaining in control.
The challenge
Producing a factual ground-investigation report involves consolidating test records, checking values, preparing tables and appendices, and maintaining consistent numbering and formatting. Repetitive copying makes the process time-consuming and creates opportunities for inconsistencies.
The solution
Fugro Report Builder reads AGS data and supporting Excel and Word records, processes test results and assembles the selected report sections. It produces tables, summaries, plots and appendices within a consistent report structure. A local language model helps draft descriptive passages from project facts. Source diagnostics support traceability, while an editable Word draft and final PDF assembly keep review within the geologist’s workflow.
My role
I led the project and technical coordination around the reporting workflow, working to translate specialist requirements into manageable development tasks. My responsibilities included scope and priority definition, architecture and implementation follow-up, quality coordination and deployment planning. I focused on connecting data processing, report generation and review so that automation supported the engineering workflow.
Value delivered
The tool reduces repetitive report preparation and helps geologists spend more time reviewing results. Consistent templates and source traceability make the generated content easier to check and revise.
