DAR — BIM Automator
Completing Revit information with rules, evidence and engineer approval.
Revit-integrated automation that proposes missing parameter values and verifies approved changes.
The challenge
Engineers need to complete large numbers of BIM parameters using project requirements, reference tables and model context. Manual lookup and data entry are repetitive, while uncertain classifications require careful judgment.
The solution
BIM Automator collects elements from selected Revit schedules and identifies missing information. Deterministic rules resolve straightforward cases using approved reference data. For unresolved items, AI uses model context and retrieved project knowledge to suggest values with evidence and alternatives. Engineers review the proposals before controlled Revit transactions apply them; read-back verification checks the result. The system supports locally hosted reasoning or an online provider, depending on the deployment requirements.
My role
I led project and technical coordination across the Revit workflow, rule engine, knowledge retrieval and AI integration. I followed requirements, scope, architecture, development and quality, with particular attention to engineer review, project isolation and verification. My focus was making automation useful without allowing uncertain AI suggestions to write directly into the model.
Value delivered
Engineers gain a structured way to detect missing information, reduce repeated searches and apply approved values consistently. Traceable recommendations and verified changes support confidence in the workflow while preserving engineering judgment.
