PropTech & smart access control
Boxxy
From first developer to an integrated access-control platform.
Mobile access, cloud administration and embedded hardware brought together for properties and shared facilities in Sweden.
The challenge
Build an access-control product in which mobile applications, backend services and physical devices work reliably together. Residents need convenient access; property administrators need control over permissions, facilities and daily operations.
The solution
Boxxy connects iOS and Android applications, a web administration platform and ESP32-based hardware. Its scope includes doors, garages and mailboxes, with Bluetooth access and additional methods such as keypads, cards, tags and rolling codes. Bookings, property-management integrations, BankID identity verification and local mobile storage support the broader user experience. Operational analysis helps administrators identify unusual access patterns.
My role
I joined at the beginning as the first developer. Over 3.5 years, I developed initial components, recruited the team and combined technical, product and project management. I stayed involved in React Native development, Bluetooth integration, authentication and local data handling while coordinating backend, web, infrastructure, embedded, design and QA work. I guided priorities, managed cross-system dependencies and followed releases and product refinement.
Value delivered
The product moved from an early concept to a production platform launched in Sweden and deployed across thousands of homes. Residents gained digital access, while administrators gained a centralized way to manage the service.
